Toast had the potential to become the leading environmentally conscious beer brand with their technique of brewing with surplus bread. The brief was to completely rebrand Toast Brewing, making it a brand people would be proud to support. We redesigned all of the brand elements and commissioned Martha Olivia to create unique illustrations for each beer.

The Brief for the Illustrator

The illustrator's task was to showcase the beauty of natural ecosystems representing fire, water, earth, and wind. We created a series where each beer had its own colour and element. We aimed to maintain and expand upon the recognition built by the previous Toast branding, which relied on primary colours.

We deliberately chose a highly detailed illustration style for the cans to encourage people to spend more time examining the designs and discovering hidden surprises. For instance, you might spot insect eyes peeking through the forest or a shark fin in the water on your first glance.
